The School of Visual Arts New York City (SVA NYC) is a private for-profit art school in New York City. It was founded in 1947 and is a member of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design.

This school was started by Silas H. Rhodes and Burne Hogarth in 1947 as the Cartoonists and Illustrators School; it had three teachers and 35 students,[6] most of whom were World War II veterans who had a large part of their tuition underwritten by the U.S. government's G.I. Bill. It was renamed the School of Visual Arts in 1956 and offered its first degrees in 1972. In 1983, it introduced a Master of Fine Arts in painting, drawing and sculpture.

SlideRoom will allow you to create an inventory of works with the following information for each file: title, date, medium, dimensions or running time, and optional notes. 1. Please submit 15–20 images for your SlideRoom portfolio. These images should be JPEG, PNG or GIF format (not to exceed 5MB each in file size, please do not upload multi-page PDFs) and approximately 1920 x 1080 pixels. 2.Application portfolios will be reviewed by the committee of faculty and alumni. 3.Please list your optional Vimeo links in the provided form in your SlideRoom account.
