MS in Environmental Science

*Prerequisite: One year of calculus & one year of laboratory science required. The transcript evaluation is not required for international applicants who have completed a bachelor's degree in the United States. All other international applicants are required to complete an official transcript evaluation. Transcript evaluations must be submitted to American University in lieu of the original international transcript. All transcript evaluations must indicate the following: 1) Course-by-course analysis: List of all classes and credits earned 2) Grade point average (4.0 scale) 3) Degree earned: Determine if the degree earned is equivalent to a US Bachelor's degree

FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS:- Supporting financial documents demonstrating financial ability to pay for at least one year of tuition, fees, and living expenses according to the current International Student Cost Guide. These financial documents will also be required at the US Embassy or Consulate when you apply for your visa. All financial documents must show available funds and must be dated within the past three months in order to be considered valid.

Recommenders will evaluate a candidate based on academic performance, motivation for program of study, intellectual capacity and/or research and writing ability. Letters must be sent by the recommender. Fill out the Recommendation Request form on the Supplemental Items Listing page to send your recommender a notification so that they can submit their letter. If you experience any errors with the Recommendation Request form or if you need to submit a new request to a new recommender, contact casgrad@american.edu.

FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS:- A completed Certification of Finances for International Students (CFIS) form. Clearly indicate on the form which type of visa you plan to obtain for your studies with American University (F-1 or J-1) and your current visa type, if applicable. If you are pending US permanent resident or asylum status, please indicate on the form accordingly.

The resume should list a candidate's relevant work experience, internships, research, awards, and/or publications, as well as educational history.

A successful statement will illustrate a candidate's goals, highlight their research interests, and explain how their experience is relevant to the academic research conducted by faculty in their program of interest. Please try to limit your statement of purpose to 500-1,000 words.
