University of Rochester Eligibility Criteria & Application Requirements

1. Academic Performance

  • GPA: The average high school GPA of enrolled freshmen is 3.77 (recalculated)

  • Course Rigor: Completion of a college-preparatory program is required.

2. Standardized Test Scores

  • Test-Optional Policy: The University of Rochester has a test-optional policy. Applicants may choose to submit SAT, ACT, AP, IB, or A-level exam scores. Standardized test scores are considered if submitted but are not required for admission or scholarship consideration

  • If Submitted:

    • SAT: Middle 50% range for admitted students is 1400–1540 .

    • ACT: Middle 50% range for admitted students is 31–34 .

3. Application Components

  • Application Fee: $50 .

  • Application Platforms: Common Application or Coalition Application

  • Essays: Recommended for all freshmen.

  • Letters of Recommendation: Two required for all freshmen .

  • Interview: Not required but recommended .
