The University of Washington is a public research university in Seattle, Washington. Founded in 1861, Washington is one of the oldest universities on the West Coast; it was established in Seattle approximately a decade after the city's founding to aid its economic development. Today, the university's 703 acres main Seattle campus is in the University District, Puget Sound region of the Pacific Northwest. The university also has campuses in Tacoma and Bothell. Overall, UW encompasses over 500 buildings and over 20 million gross square footage of space, including one of the largest library systems in the world with more than 26 university libraries, as well as the UW Tower, lecture halls, art centers, museums, laboratories, stadiums, and conference centers.     A personal statement essay is required and must be uploaded or entered online. The essay must be within 750 words and must answer the following questions: -Why have you decided to pursue an MSIS degree? -What are your career goals in the next 5 to 10 years? -How will this degree help you reach these goals?

    Common Document

    Your resume should be a complete summary of your education and professional work history in reverse chronological order. Your resume must be uploaded or entered online. Please include internships and other project experience as well. For each position or internship, include: Company name; division, group, or department; dates of employment or internship Position title, if applicable Responsibility summary: a 2-4 sentence section describing your primary responsibilities for each position Accomplishment bullets: 1-3 bullets for each position.

  • Statement of Purpose (SOP)

    A statement of purpose essay is required and must be uploaded or entered online. The essay must be within 750 words and must answer the following questions: Why are you interested in MSIS? What are your learning goals? What are your career goals in the next 5 to 10 years? How will MSIS help you reach these goals?

  • Video Essay

    University Specific

    All applicants must complete a short video interview. You will need a computer with internet access, a webcam, and a microphone. The video interview allows us to get to know you better, assess your communication skills as well as your ability to think quickly and creatively. Once you submit your admissions application, you will be emailed on how to complete the video interview within 2-3 business days. The interview consists of pre-recorded questions by the MSIS Program where your responses to these questions are recorded. The interview needs to be completed by the application deadline.
