PhD in Biomedical Engineering

Undergraduate degree in an engineering subject or an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution with a physical science, natural science or math major.

Undergraduate and graduate transcripts. submit an unofficial transcript from each university or college where you earned course credit. Your transcripts must be in English. Transcripts must include courses taken, credit hours, and grades earned.

Recommendation letters Because this is an engineering research-oriented program, we suggest students submit letters of recommendation from research and independent-study supervisors, if possible, especially in engineering or applied science-related areas.

Candidate’s personal statement. In two pages or less, write an essay that answers the questions below. 1) Why are you interested in this program? 2) What have you done that makes you a great candidate? 3) How will you benefit from the program? 4) How do you plan to contribute to the student community in Penn Engineering while you’re here? 5) Why will you succeed in the program? 6) What will you do/accomplish once you have completed the program?
