A statement of goals and objectives (two pages double-spaced, listed as personal statement in the application system) in which you discuss your areas of scholarly interest, research directions you wish to pursue, and how your goals fit in with the Department of Geography. We are interested in your original thoughts and ideas, so please refrain from using AI-generated text when drafting your statement. You are not required to have secured an advisor prior to applying but one of the key things we consider is how your specific research interests/goals/project overlaps with our faculty's ability to advise. You can contact faculty directly about potential shared research interests.

Please submit a writing sample of 25 pages or fewer. You should be the sole author of the sample (do not include co-authored work or AI-generated text). Writing samples may include a research paper for a course, an excerpt from a thesis, a conference paper, a published article, or other writing that showcases your research and writing abilities.
