MArch in Architecture

A copy of transcripts must be uploaded to the application along with a copy of the certified English translation for all post-secondary academic work.

International applicants must document their ability to meet all educational and living expenses for the entire period of their intended study before the university can issue a Certificate of Visa Eligibility (Form I-20 or IAP-66). This form requires original documentation of financial support, including verification of personal/family savings, official scholarship from institutions or embassies, financial support letters from your government or employer, or official letters from credit institutions indicating approval of loans.

Please identify in your application the names of persons who will be writing recommendations. You are strongly encouraged to arrange for at least one from a person who knows your academic work. The individuals will receive an automated email message requesting a letter of recommendation on your behalf.

A copy of the student's passport biographical page is required for students from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and the Middle East/Gulf. It is recommended for students from all other countries. Faxed and scanned copies are also acceptable.

Personal statement 500 words or less, of your current position on the discipline of architecture. Please be specific about influential courses, instructors, books, personal or professional experiences, and goals. In addition, please feel free to provide relevant context related to unique challenges (personal and or academic) you may have encountered during this current environment on how it may affect your application.

2-Year M.Arch Applicant Portfolio Requirements- The review committee uses the portfolio to determine a student’s architectural design abilities. It should include drawings, models and renderings of projects completed academically and/or professionally. The portfolio should document competence in the comprehensive design of buildings (according to the NAAB 2012 Conditions for Accreditation). Those applicants who do not meet the level of proficiency in comprehensive design will be required to take a comprehensive design studio as part of the Master of Architecture studies. All work must carry the name of applicant, date of work and an indication of whether the work was an academic, professional or personal project. If the item is part of a group effort, the specific role of the applicant should be included. 3.5 M.Arch and MSArch Applicant Work samples- Sample of creative work (50 MB upload limit): Students applying to the MArch-3.5 Year program and the MS in Architecture program (without a background in architecture) the samples can consist of creative writing, freehand drawing, sculpture, painting, photography, furniture, ceramics, graphics, set design and architectural design. These can be professional, academic or self-initiated projects. It’s length is up to the student but should be extensive enough to demonstrate the student’s creative output. Submission should be in the form of a single pdf file no larger than 50 MB. All work must carry the name of applicant, date of work and an indication of whether the work was an academic, professional or personal project. If the item is part of a group effort, the specific role of the applicant should be included.
