If your degree certificate is not available, for example, if you have not yet completed your degree, please ignore this request and proceed with your application. We will be able to consider your application on a conditional basis and you will have the opportunity to upload the certificate once it is available. All degree certificates should be uploaded (Bachelor level and above)

A certified copy of your degree record containing titles of courses/modules, the number of credits, and the final grades for each. If you are currently a student please provide a copy of your degree progress and achievement to date (sometimes called an interim transcript). Please ensure both sides of your certified degree transcript are uploaded.

You must submit two references with your application.

You will need to submit a personal statement of around 500 words, outlining your academic history and relevant experience. Your personal statement will help us decide whether you are a good match for the programme you have applied for and whether the degree programme is right for you. You should also use your personal statement to outline your motivation for your chosen area of study. Try to answer questions such as: Why are you interested in studying at Edinburgh? Why have you chosen this particular programme? If you are studying for career development, what are your career plans and how will your studies support these? You should include any relevant experience or training in your personal statement. This could be paid or volunteer work, or other qualifications not stated elsewhere. If you run out of space in the personal statement, you can also add information about any relevant experience or training you have to the ‘Relevant knowledge/training skills’ section of the application form.

A research proposal is a piece of writing that describes the research you are looking to do. It should make clear: the importance of your topic the scope of your research how you plan to conduct the research. When writing a research proposal: be clear, objective, succinct and realistic in your objectives show that you have identified a clear research gap (in other words, that you are proposing an original research project that will make a significant contribution to knowledge) explain why this research should be funded and is important and/or timely state and justify your objectives clearlyanswer the question: how will the research benefit wider society or contribute to the research community?
