The New School is a private research university in New York City. It was founded in 1919 as The New School for Social Research with an original mission dedicated to academic freedom and intellectual inquiry and a home for progressive thinkers.     Please submit a 750- to 1000-word statement of purpose. Your statement of purpose should convey why you are interested in our program. Please discuss your academic and professional goals, and the subject areas within public or urban policy that are of interest to you. The statement of purpose presents you with the opportunity to tell the admission committee about who you are and why you want to pursue graduate study in our public and urban policy program. It is also a place to explain or provide context for the rest of your application materials.
