Two letters of recommendation. Each letter of recommendation should be written by someone who is able to comment on your qualifications for graduate study.

Copy of your passport and visa

An online portfolio (website) of work with at least 10 projects exhibited. The portfolio should demonstrate your abilities, experience, and knowledge in the field of design. The portfolio can show more than 10 projects, but keep in mind that reviewers have limited time. It is recommended that applicants focus on quality over quantity.

A resumé that documents your professional and academic experience.

A one-page statement of intent that articulates your goals and how you expect the master of design program to prepare you to achieve your intentions. Please organize your statement into three essays, answering the following questions: Essay 1 - Why are you interested in doing a master of design? Why now? Why at SJSU? Essay 2 - How has your background (professional experience and/or previous studies) sparked an interest in a masters degree? And, what are your career goals after graduation? Essay 3 - What area(s) of design or specific topic(s) would you be interested in exploring as a basis for your culminating master's project?
