MIE in Industrial Engineering

Please upload your CV. A CV should include a comprehensive chronological listing of your professional achievements including academic credentials and employment. Please include the title of any publications or research projects (for example, an undergraduate or master's thesis).

Bachelor’s (undergraduate) degree in a quantitative field from an accredited institution.

One official transcript(s) is required from all undergraduate and graduate schools attended. We do not need secondary school (high school) transcripts.

We require recommendations from at least three people who know your academic achievements. The deadline to receive the recommendation letters is two weeks after the application deadline. We begin evaluation of the full application once three (3) letters have been received. However, we cannot move forward on the application with less than three (3) letters. Email addresses for recommenders MUST be from their official institutional addresses. All letters of recommendation must be submitted via the application system. We do not accept letters via email or postal mail.

Briefly describe any additional factors that you would like to have the admissions committee consider in evaluating your application (e.g. personal background, work experience, leadership role.)

Describe a time when you faced significant challenges or setbacks in pursuing a goal or completing a project. How did you demonstrate grit and perseverance to overcome these obstacles and achieve success?

A statement of purpose should address the following questions: Why do you want to obtain a professional master’s degree in Industrial Engineering? Why are you interested in Rice and how do you believe the MIE will help advance your career? Why do you believe you will be successful in the MIE program? What relevant experience do you have with regards to internship(s), prior job(s), and/or research? What would you like to do after completing your MIE? What are your long-term career goals?
