MS in Statistics

An official transcript or degree certificate is a verification of your academic record issued in the original language from the original issuing source (i.e., college, university, technical school, or secondary school). Official transcripts or degree certificates issued in languages other than English must be translated into English and submitted to Portland State along with the original official documents. International transcripts must be submitted in paper form to be considered official. Electronic transcripts will only be accepted from U.S. institutions.

Copies of transcripts from each college or university attended (other than Portland State)

Provide financial documentation demonstrating adequate financial support for at least the first year of study

Submit contact information for at least two professional or academic references who can comment on your ability to do graduate work and your teaching potential. Portland State University will contact your references and provide them with instructions for submitting recommendation forms. If applying for a GA position, you do not need to enter additional references but it is to your benefit to let your recommenders know that you are also applying for a graduate assistantship so that they can address your teaching potential in their reference letter.

Please provide a short statement describing your past work in Mathematics and or Statistics, your plans for graduate study, career goals, and any additional information you would like to include for consideration. If you would like to be considered for a GA position, please describing your background in mathematics/statistics, and previous teaching, tutoring, and/or grading experiences in your personal statement.
