MS in Geographic Information Science

An official transcript or degree certificate is a verification of your academic record issued in the original language from the original issuing source (i.e., college, university, technical school, or secondary school). Official transcripts or degree certificates issued in languages other than English must be translated into English and submitted to Portland State along with the original official documents. International transcripts must be submitted in paper form to be considered official. Electronic transcripts will only be accepted from U.S. institutions.

In 2-3 pages, please tell us why you are interested in graduate work in the PSU Geography Department, what you understand the field to be, and where your greatest interests are within geography and GIS.

Provide financial documentation demonstrating adequate financial support for at least the first year of study

Submit contact information for at least three individuals who qualified to assess your promise as a grad student. Portland State University will contact your references and provide them with instructions for submitting recommendation forms.

A digital copy of your GIS portfolio that showcases your skills in geospatial technologies, including GIS, remote sensing, cartography, and/or surveying. We also accept online e-Portfolios. However, it is the applicant's responsibility to make sure that the e-Portfolio is accessible to the admission committee.
