Document Required:

  • Credential Evaluation

    Common Document

An official transcript or degree certificate is a verification of your academic record issued in the original language from the original issuing source (i.e., college, university, technical school, or secondary school). Official transcripts or degree certificates issued in languages other than English must be translated into English and submitted to Portland State along with the original official documents. International transcripts must be submitted in paper form to be considered official. Electronic transcripts will only be accepted from U.S. institutions.

  • Degree Transcript

    Common Document

For the online graduate application, you will be required to upload scanned copies of your transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended, regardless of the number of credits earned. If admitted, you will then be required to submit true official transcripts from all colleges or universities as the last step.

  • Financials (proof of income)

    Common Document

Provide financial documentation demonstrating adequate financial support for at least the first year of study

  • Letter of Recommendation (LOR)

The online application system will allow you to ask 3 individuals to send us letters on your behalf. We prefer hearing from professors and academics, and, if you have been away from the classroom, ask your supervisor or mentor. Recommenders should not be family or friends. We hope to hear from those who can speak to your ability to succeed in graduate studies. Recommenders will be asked to write a letter addressing the following qualities: Initiative Logical reasoning ability Writing and speaking skills Emotional maturity Intellectual motivation Ability to accept and give criticism

  • Statement of Purpose (SOP)

    University Specific

Please write a brief essay that addresses the following matters: What do you intend to study in our program? How have your previous educational and/or work experiences prepared you for our program? How will our program help you achieve your future goals?

  • Test Score Report
