This is a critical part of your application that gives you the opportunity to articulate your motivations, aptitude, and vision. In 750 words or less please address the following questions: Why are you applying specifically to the MLDS program at Northwestern University? How do you hope to uniquely add value to the experience of your classmates? What are your career aspirations upon completion of the program, and how will MLDS help you reach these goals?

Please include all relevant professional and/or academic experience including relevant coursework (if applicable). There is no page limit for the resume or CV, but the average CVs and resumes we receive are between one and two pages long.

Video Essay Instructions and Questions While the candidate video is strongly encouraged, we consider it an optional component to the application. You may skip this section and the the video essay recording sections, and its absence will not negatively impact the outcome of your application review. We recommend leveraging this section to communicate anything that may not otherwise neatly fit into the other sections of your application. If you do not have anything specific you'd like to share or discuss, we suggest responding to one or more of the following optional prompts: Discuss in detail some of the important ethical and/or political challenges we are facing in the field of analytics today. What are some innovative or interesting technologies that have arisen in the field? What do you find fascinating about them and what initiative have you taken to explore their uses? What is your approach when solving problems? What are some challenges you've faced, and how has your approach helped you face those challenges? Requirements for videos: The maximum length for your video is two minutes. Your video must feature only you, the candidate, not a representative speaking on your behalf. Candidate videos must be recorded and submitted via the online application. We do not accept videos submitted via email or external links (e.g. via other video hosting sites).
