You are required to submit two academic references from those who can comment on your academic work and your suitability for the course you are applying for. In some cases, such as if you have not studied for many years, it may be appropriate to ask someone who is familiar with your professional work to act as a referee.

Your personal statement should: 1. Explain your motivation to undertake the course 2. Describe your academic interests, strengths and background relevant to the course 3. Outline your ambitions and/or research interests 4. Include other relevant information, such as additional reading or research, work or other relevant experiences that have informed your decision to apply for the particular course 5. Highlight areas of specific interest within the course you are applying for.
