Georgetown University Fees and Programs

Georgetown University fees for the 2022–2023 academic year are approximately $59,784 for tuition alone. When you include room, board, and additional fees, the total cost rises to around $82,356 annually. For Indian students, that equates to roughly ₹67.5 lakhs per year, assuming an exchange rate of 1 USD = 82 INR.

Founded in 1789, Georgetown University holds the distinction of being the oldest Catholic and Jesuit higher education institution in the United States. Its roots trace back even further — to 1634, when Jesuit settlers arrived in colonial Maryland. Despite periods of suppression, including the banning of Catholic education in 1646, the Jesuits persisted in their mission, often running schools in secret.

After the American Revolutionary War, John Carroll, appointed by Pope Pius VI on Benjamin Franklin’s recommendation, led the efforts to establish a formal university. By 1791, Georgetown welcomed its first student, and the institution’s legacy began.

Today, Georgetown University is highly ranked in various undergraduate programs. Its business-related majors such as Accounting, Finance, and Management are ranked #14 in the U.S. News listings. Other disciplines like Art History, Biology, and Chemistry also feature in national rankings, while master’s programs such as Biochemistry & Molecular Biology hold international recognition.

From rich history to academic excellence, Georgetown remains a prestigious choice — albeit with a premium price tag.
