In addition, a hardcopy of one “official” transcriptfrom each of your bachelor’s and master’s degree-granting institution(s)is required to be sentto UCLA via regularmail. If your institution sends digital transcripts, have them sent to the Associate Director of Admissions, Sean Campbell at sean@luskin.ucla.edu.Due to the remote nature of work due to COVID-19, there is no need to send official transcripts until after you are admitted, although you must still upload copies to the online application.

  • Letter of Recommendation (LOR)

    You should request letters from people who are familiar with your academic, scholarly, and/or professional workand who are in a position to evaluate your promise for doctoral study. At leastoneof your referees should themselves be academics or researchersif you have graduated from university in the last five years.     Unlike the Statement of Purpose, the Personal History Statement is a chance to provide a more narrative description of your background outside of your research interests. While not specifically evaluated by the faculty, this statement provides the opportunity to share more about yourself in your application, and may be used for certain diversity-based fellowship consideration.
