The Polytechnic Institute of Paris (French: Institut Polytechnique de Paris) is a research university located in Palaiseau, France. It consists of five engineering schools: École Polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, ENSAE Paris, Télécom Paris, and Télécom SudParis.

With the Paris-Saclay University, the Polytechnic Institute of Paris is part of the Paris-Saclay project, a research-intensive academic campus, and business cluster developed on the Plateau de Saclay near Paris. The project integrates several engineering schools and research centers that are part of the world's top research organizations in various fields.

    You must provide an official ID photo that meets the following requirements: o In color o Different from the photo on the ID card or passport provided in your application form o Taken within the last 12 months to reflect your current appearance o Taken in front of a plain clear background with nothing behind you o Taken in full-face view directly facing the camera o Eyeglasses may be worn, but there must not be any glare o In JPG/JPEG format and 800 Ko maximum size o Selfies, holiday or casual photos are not accepted

  • High School Transcript

    Common Document

    You must provide all the transcripts you have received for each academic year, whether issued per term, per semester or annually, and whether they contain both grades and teachers’ comments, only grades or only teachers’ comments. If your transcripts or diplomas are not in English or in French, you must translate them to either of these languages. Please note that it is not mandatory to use a sworn translator. You must then upload both the original and translated versions of these transcripts per each academic year

  • Letter of Recommendation (LOR)

    University Specific

    All candidates must provide recommendation letters from two referees. Your referees cannot be members of your family or family friends, and cannot be yourself. They may write their recommendations in English or in French. At least one of them must be a teacher/professor/lecturer in mathematics (preferably) or science at your current institution. By “science”, we mean physics, computer science, economics, chemistry or biology as these subjects correspond to the main scientific courses taught in the Bachelor Program.

    IDENTITY CARD/PASSPORT You must provide a good quality (preferably scanned) copy of your passport (or ID card for European students) in JPG/JPEG format. If you have two nationalities, we need justification of your second nationality too, in PDF format. This is very important if your second nationality permits you to request an exemption from providing English-level certification, or proves your EU citizenship.

  • Personal Statement

    University Specific

    You are required to answer the three questions below, 300 words per question maximum. In order to do so, please fill in the Personal Statement template on your application form or click on the links hereafter for the Word or OpenDocument Personal Statement templates. For applications for the September 2024 intake, the personal statement questions are:  How will the Bachelor Program at École Polytechnique help you to achieve your ambitions?  Write a short letter to introduce yourself to your future roommates to help them - and us - to get to know you better.  Tell us about a particular issue that matters to you and which actions you would like to take to solve or tackle it. It could be an intellectual challenge, a research question, or anything that is dear to you, however big or small it is.
